In 1994, I was working at a resort in the Bahamas. I was walking toward the main convention room to try and catch the last few minutes of the guest speaker when the doors opened up and the audience poured out. I was going against the tide of people twisting and dodging. I turned to come face to face with the special guest, Nelson Mandela. I was numb and probably had a blank stare on my face. He put his hand on my shoulder, said hello, and kept moving past.
